A hard enduro competition has taken place in Liepāja, Latvia. Hard enduro is a discipline of enduro motorsport in which riders cover a course in difficult off-road conditions and overcome a range of technically very challenging obstacles.
Enduro in general is a form of motorcycle sport where participants ride a route away from ordinary roads. Hard enduro makes the task tougher still, as the courses are built to test how well riders handle demanding sections.
The director of the Liepāja event, Ainis Kļavenieks, describes the discipline as chess on a motorcycle. By this he stresses that success takes more than speed: riders must also think through how to get past each obstacle.
The report from Latvian public broadcaster LSM offers a look at the event, which combines motorsport with show elements.
