Amorim takes charge of AC Milan after Manchester United stint
Ruben Amorim, who was dismissed by Manchester United earlier this year, has signed a three-year contract with AC Milan. The Italian club did not disclose details, but media reports suggest an annual salary of €3.5 million.

Italian football club AC Milan has announced that Ruben Amorim will be their new head coach. The Milan club did not reveal the terms of the agreement, but according to media reports, the contract is for three seasons with a salary of around €3.5 million per year, excluding bonuses.
Amorim takes over a team that ended the season with a 1-2 loss to Cagliari and finished fifth, just one point short of UEFA Champions League qualification. As a result, AC Milan will compete in the UEFA Europa League next season.
The Portuguese coach was dismissed by Manchester United earlier this year after 14 months in charge. Prior to that, from 2020 to November 2024, he led Sporting Lisbon, winning two Portuguese league titles. He also coached Casa Pia, took over Braga's second team in 2019, and managed Braga's first team from 2019 to 2020.
Amorim is a former professional footballer who played for Belenenses, Benfica, Braga, and Qatari club Al-Wakrah. With Benfica, he won the Portuguese championship three times and reached the UEFA Europa League final in the 2013/14 season. The former midfielder earned 14 caps for Portugal without scoring.
