Anbernic's RG DDS handheld to cost almost double the original Nintendo 3DS
Handheld maker Anbernic has announced its clamshell dual-screen RG DDS console at $299.99. Shipments are set to begin gradually on December 10, 2026.

Handheld gaming maker Anbernic has revealed the price and full specifications of its new clamshell, dual-screen RG DDS console. The device largely echoes the Nintendo 3DS, but surpasses it considerably in both price and performance. It will cost $299.99, with a temporary preorder discount bringing it to $284.99.
Anbernic has been known for budget handhelds, so the price marks a departure from the company's usual approach.
Specifications
The RG DDS is powered by a Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 processor, which can emulate more than just 3DS games. The chip was known from the company's earlier teaser of the device, and Anbernic has now detailed the rest of the hardware.
There are two versions: one with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage, and an upgraded model with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage. Both have a microSD card slot supporting up to 2TB of additional storage.
The console will run Android 16, letting buyers use the many available emulator apps. It also includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, 1080p display output, a six-axis gyroscope and a 3.5mm audio jack.
As expected, there will be no glasses-free 3D graphics like those of the original 3DS, though the higher-resolution displays may make up for that.
AI button and availability
Anbernic previously showed off an unusual AI button in the design. The company says it will offer game guides and strategies, real-time translation during gameplay and "more fun AI features."
Shipping will begin gradually on December 10, 2026. The console will come in three colors: Glacier White, Basalt Black and Phantom Blue.
