Following its official debut last month, Google is now rolling out Android 17 to compatible Pixel phones, along with exclusive features as part of the June Pixel Drop. However, not every feature announced at the Android Show is available today.

Android 17 itself arrives on Pixel phones today, and Google says other manufacturers will issue the update throughout 2026. The biggest user interface update is the introduction of Bubbles—floating app windows that open with a long press. Similar floating windows already exist in many Android skins, but they are now an official part of Android 17. Google enhances their usefulness on larger screens with a dedicated "bubble bar" dock at the bottom for easier multitasking on foldables and tablets.

The update also includes Screen Reactions, which simplify recording a selfie video while screen-recording, making it easier to create reaction videos for social media. Foldables receive new gaming controls that display a touchscreen gamepad on the bottom half of the screen while the game runs on top. All Android phones gain native controller remapping. Expanded parental controls and security features are also included.

Additional features exclusive to Pixel phones mostly expand existing capabilities. The new Gemini Omni model in the Gemini app will generate video from text prompts, while Lyria 3 does the same for music. AirDrop support via Quick Share expands to the Pixel 8A and 9A, Voice Translate for phone calls comes to the Pixel 10A, and Take a Message becomes available on every Pixel from the 6 onward (except in India, where it remains limited to the 10 series). Finally, conversational editing in Google Photos expands to the UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy, while Magic Cue suggestions appear in new messaging apps—though Google did not specify which.

Several features announced at the Android Show are not included in today's rollout. Google says its new Gemini Intelligence features—including the Rambler transcription tool, AI-generated widgets, and expanded Task Automation—will arrive on "select advanced devices" later this summer. Other features, like redesigned emoji and the Pause Point wellbeing tool, have no confirmed release date yet.
