Anya Taylor-Joy joins 'The Hunt for Gollum' as an elf assassin
Actress Anya Taylor-Joy will play the elf Seren in the upcoming film 'The Hunt for Gollum,' directed by Andy Serkis. The movie covers Aragorn's quest to track Gollum, with Ian McKellen and Lee Pace returning to their roles.

Anya Taylor-Joy, known for 'The Queen's Gambit,' 'The Witch,' and 'Furiosa,' has been cast as the elf Seren in the forthcoming Andy Serkis-directed film 'The Hunt for Gollum,' as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. Serkis will also reprise his role as Gollum, with Ian McKellen returning as Gandalf and Lee Pace as Elvenking Thranduil.
Seren is a Sindar elf described as a 'trusted, lethal agent' of Thranduil. This character is original to the film, not found in J.R.R. Tolkien's works. The movie focuses on a barely mentioned episode from 'The Lord of the Rings' in which Aragorn hunts the creature Gollum before Sauron's forces can capture him. In the books, this event is covered only briefly.
The article speculates that Seren might accompany Aragorn, turning the story into a Middle-earth road movie. Despite the star-studded cast and potential for an engaging chase thriller, questions arise about whether this film is necessary, given that Peter Jackson already covered similar ground in his earlier adaptations.
