Anthropic and Nscale reportedly in talks over another $45 billion compute deal
AI company Anthropic and AI infrastructure provider Nscale are reportedly close to announcing a new $45 billion deal, according to Bloomberg. The two firms announced a deal of the same size a little over a month ago.

Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company, and Nscale, an AI infrastructure provider, are reportedly close to announcing another $45 billion compute deal. Bloomberg reported the news on October 19, citing people familiar with the matter. Compute refers to the computing resources needed to train and run AI models.
A second deal within weeks
A little over a month ago, Anthropic and Nscale announced a compute agreement of the same $45 billion size. If the new arrangement goes through, it would add to a long string of giant compute deals Anthropic has struck over the past year.
Bloomberg's sources cautioned that talks are still under way and that details could change. TechCrunch has asked both companies for comment and said it will update its story if they respond.
Investor concerns
The large sums going into AI compute deals have unsettled some investors, who worry that companies are spending too much for too little profit. Anthropic has nonetheless continued with such partnerships, driven by its belief that the investments will pay off in the end.
IPO plans
Both Anthropic and Nscale are currently pursuing initial public offerings (IPOs), meaning listings on the stock market. Anthropic is still expected to go public this year. Nscale also wants to list, but Bloomberg reported that the company is facing investor pushback over its proposed valuation of $30 billion.
