Ape to open artist Ilze Dilāne's solo exhibition and new Paper Workshop

On August 17 at 18:00, the Ape Crafts House (Amatu māja) will open a solo exhibition by artist Ilze Dilāne titled 'Imprints of Time' ('Laika nospiedumi'). The exhibition marks the beginning of the cultural programme for Ape's town festival.

Visitors will be able to see paintings, graphic works, ceramics and paper art pieces, showcasing the artist's broad creative range. The exhibition's motto states that paper, porcelain, clay and paint are four different materials that together form one creative language.

Ilze Dilāne is a graduate of the Art Academy of Latvia and works as a painter, ceramicist and paper artist. She is considered one of the developers of handmade paper art technique in Latvia. For her, paper is not merely a surface on which to create a work — it becomes an essential part of the piece itself, with its own texture, form and story.

A growing connection to Ape

In recent years, the town of Ape has taken on an increasingly important place in the artist's life. She has acquired property there, where she is developing her Paper Workshop. In the future, the site is planned to offer visitors the chance to learn various paper art techniques and take part in masterclasses.

As a result, Ape is gradually becoming a place where the artist's creative ideas gain not only new forms of expression but also their own physical space.
