On Monday, a shooting near Mexico's presidential palace in Mexico City resulted in one fatality and two injuries. The Mexico City Security Secretariat described the incident as a "direct attack". The deceased is a 42-year-old man, while two men aged 39 were injured.

After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle. Police are continuing their investigation. The attack occurred in Santo Domingo Square, surrounded by colonial-era buildings. The square is notorious for the production and sale of forged documents.

While shootings are common in areas controlled by drug trafficking gangs, they remain unusual in the Mexican capital, although several street gangs operate in the city.
