Armenia to attend Ukraine recovery conference amid Russian pressure
Armenia will send its security council secretary to the Ukraine recovery conference in Gdansk as Russia tightens trade restrictions, prompting €34 million EU aid.

Conference Participation
Armenia has confirmed its participation in the Ukraine Recovery Conference, scheduled for July 24-25 in Gdansk, Poland. The country will be represented by Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia. The decision comes amid increasing economic pressure from Russia.
Russian Restrictions
Since May 30, Russia has imposed import restrictions on several Armenian products, including fruits, vegetables, flowers, and cognac. Armenian officials have described these measures as politically motivated. Armenia's economy is heavily dependent on trade with Russia, making these restrictions a significant challenge.
EU Support
In a phone call with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called Russia's actions "economic coercion" and stressed their unacceptability. In response, the European Commission allocated €34 million to Armenia to help mitigate the impact of the Russian trade restrictions.
The conference in Gdansk is part of international efforts to rebuild Ukraine following Russia's war.
