Artūrs Žagars signed a three-year contract with Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahçe in 2023 following a standout FIBA World Cup campaign. His first season was spent on loan at Lithuania's Wolves Vilnius, but a knee injury sidelined him for most of it, with rehabilitation supervised by Fenerbahçe's medical staff.

The 2024/25 campaign marked Žagars' first full season with Fenerbahçe. During that time, he became the first Latvian to win the ULEB EuroLeague title and helped the club secure the Turkish Super League championship. Overall, he won two Turkish Cups and one President's Cup with Fenerbahçe.

In the regular season of the Turkish Super League, Žagars averaged 8.9 points and 3.4 assists over 12 games. In five playoff appearances, he averaged 3.4 points. In the EuroLeague, he recorded 3.4 points and 1.6 assists per game across five contests.

Fenerbahçe announced today that Žagars will not be part of the squad for the upcoming season. The club also confirmed the departures of Brandon Boston, Armando Beikot, and Gilson Bango. Several reinforcements are expected shortly, including Shane Larkin from Anadolu Efes, Shavon Shields from Olimpia Milan, Trent Forrest from Baskonia Vitoria, Ignas Sargiūnas from Rytas Vilnius, and Brextson Key from Valencia.
