US actress Selma Blair detained after incident on Delta flight
Actress Selma Blair was detained at New York's John F. Kennedy airport after a flight from Los Angeles, during which she is suspected of attacking two crew members. Her representative links the incident to a medical emergency.

Hollywood actress Selma Blair, known for roles in the films "Cruel Intentions" and "Legally Blonde", was detained on Sunday, 11 October, at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The reason was an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York in which two crew members were injured. According to reports, the 54-year-old actress attacked crew members during the flight.
What happened at the airport
Port Authority of New York officials confirmed that police received a call at around 11 p.m. local time on Sunday about an aggressive passenger on a plane that had already landed at the airport. The detained woman was identified as Blair, and she was taken to hospital for a health assessment.
Officials confirmed that two crew members were injured and that one of them was taken to hospital for further checks.
Unconfirmed claims and the actress's side
According to information obtained by the entertainment news site TMZ, Blair tried to open the aircraft door during the flight, and a conflict broke out when crew members attempted to stop her. The actress is suspected of hitting one flight attendant and biting another.
Her representative said the incident was linked to a sudden health problem: "Selma experienced an urgent medical situation that caused the behavior attributed to her. After landing she was immediately given medical assistance, and her condition is currently stable."
Airline response and investigation
Delta Air Lines stated that it does not tolerate aggressive or unlawful behavior on its aircraft and stressed that the safety of passengers and crew is always its top priority. The plane arrived in New York even earlier than scheduled. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is also looking into the incident.
Blair publicly revealed in 2018 that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. What exactly caused Sunday's incident is not yet known.
