The United States launched strikes on Iran for the third consecutive night on Tuesday, despite President Donald Trump's earlier comment that an agreement with Iran remains possible. On Monday, Trump told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that very heavy strikes would be carried out that night and the following day.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that strikes began at 23.45 Latvian time. CENTCOM stated that the strikes would continue, inflicting heavy damage on Iranian forces and reducing their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Last week, Trump formally notified the US Congress that the US had resumed military conflict with Iran, granting the Pentagon an additional 60 days for operations without congressional approval. The US army reported hitting dozens of targets on Monday morning.
In response, Iran's Revolutionary Guard announced new strikes against Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and Oman. Trump also threatened to destroy "Mountain of Scythes" – a deeply buried nuclear facility near Natanz. Western intelligence agencies suspect Iran is building an undeclared uranium enrichment site there. Trump emphasized that Iran should be ready, as the US is coming.
