US Launches New Strikes on Iran to Protect Shipping in Strait of Hormuz
The US Central Command announced new attacks on Iran aimed at limiting Tehran's ability to disrupt shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes come a day after the US hit more than 80 targets in Iran in response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced a new series of military strikes against Iran, with the stated goal of limiting Iran's ability to interfere with shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital international waterway.
In a statement on platform X, CENTCOM said the US holds Iran responsible for recent unprovoked aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews that were freely navigating this critical sea lane.
The new attacks come almost a day after the US struck more than 80 targets in Iran, in retaliation for Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in or near the Strait of Hormuz.
President Donald Trump had earlier stated that US armed forces might strike Iran again on Wednesday evening. The latest operations confirm that commitment.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's busiest oil transit chokepoints. Any disruption in the region can affect global energy prices and economic stability. The US military actions demonstrate a determination to maintain freedom of navigation and counter Iranian influence on international trade.
