Ukraine Recovery Conference opens amid strained Polish-Ukrainian relations
The Ukraine Recovery Conference began in Kyiv with both presidents absent, as delegates question how quickly the estranged partners can reconcile.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference kicked off in Kyiv on Wednesday, drawing international investors and officials, but notably missing the presence of both the Ukrainian and Polish presidents. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Andrzej Duda did not attend the event, which comes at a time when relations between Kyiv and Warsaw have hit their lowest point since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
Inside the conference halls, the focus was on investment and reconstruction projects. Outside, however, the same question was on every delegate's lips: how fast can these two estranged partners make up? The tension between the key allies has raised concerns about the future of their cooperation, even as the conference aimed to showcase unity in rebuilding Ukraine.
The strained relations stem from disagreements over agricultural trade and historical grievances. While organizers had hoped for a display of solidarity, the absence of the two leaders underscores the serious challenges in bilateral ties. Nevertheless, many delegates stressed that both countries share strategic interests in Ukraine's recovery and security, suggesting that a rapprochement is still possible.
