Auda and Liepaja claim wins in Virsliga's 27th round

Auda defeated Tukums 2000 3-0 at home and Liepaja beat Grobina 3-1 in the opening two matches of the Latvian Virsliga's 27th round, keeping both teams in contention for bronze medals.

Two matches of the 27th round of the Latvian top football league were played on Friday. Auda secured a convincing 3-0 home victory over Tukums 2000, while Liepaja triumphed 3-1 over Grobina in a duel between two clubs from the South Kurzeme region.

Endruws Apija, Jewgenijs Minins and Kader Kone scored for Auda. The hosts took the lead in the 29th minute, when Apija finished off a pass from Bartlemejs Djedjū. In the 43rd minute, Davis Marcis Valmiers put the ball into the home net, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review. Early in the second half, in the 64th minute, Minins doubled the lead with a shot from distance, and five minutes later Kone made it 3-0 after breaking clear on goal.

Liepaja opened the scoring as early as the 29th second, when Oloko Ede converted a pass from Abioudun Ogunniji. In the 49th minute, Ede scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-0. Grobina pulled one back in the 78th minute through former Liepaja player Dodo, who finished off a pass from Ivan Tishchenko. However, in the 84th minute, Kivons Leidsmans restored Liepaja's two-goal advantage after an assist from Ede.

In the standings, RFS lead with 65 points from 25 games, one point ahead of Riga. Auda are third with 49 points, Liepaja fourth with 37, and Daugavpils fifth with 36. The remaining matches of the round will see Super Nova host Daugavpils and Jelgava travel to Ogre United on Saturday, while RFS take on Riga on Sunday. The final round of the 2026 season is scheduled for 8 November, with Riga having won the title last season.
