Chinese electric truck SuperPanther eTopas 600 enters production in Austria
SuperPanther has begun series production of its eTopas 600 electric heavy truck in Austria, with first units delivered to clients in several European countries. The model offers high power, fast charging and low energy consumption.
Chinese electric truck developer SuperPanther, in partnership with Austria's Steyr Automotive, has launched series production of the eTopas 600 heavy electric truck, marking a new entry in Europe's electric commercial vehicle market.
The first production vehicle has been handed over to logistics firm DHL Freight for use in the Netherlands. Initial deliveries have also been made to customers in Germany, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic.
Founded in 2022, SuperPanther focuses on developing electric medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Rather than importing completed vehicles from China, the company works with European industrial partners. As a result, final assembly, testing and quality control are carried out at the Steyr Automotive plant in Austria, while several systems and components are supplied by European companies.
The eTopas 600 is designed for freight transport with a gross weight of up to 42 tonnes. It is powered by two electric motors delivering 394 kW (536 hp) of continuous power and up to 692 kW (914 hp) maximum. Energy comes from a 621 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery manufactured by CATL. Range is approximately 560–600 kilometres on a single charge, depending on operating conditions.
One of the truck’s key advantages is fast charging. Using two CCS2 connectors simultaneously, the battery can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in less than 40 minutes, with charging power reaching about 660 kW.
Prior to series production, pilot vehicles covered more than 70,000 kilometres in real-world conditions across several European countries. Average energy consumption was around 0.95 kWh per kilometre, placing the eTopas 600 among the most energy-efficient electric heavy trucks in its class.
For maintenance in Europe, SuperPanther cooperates with the independent Alltrucks service network, which also provides round-the-clock roadside assistance. The company is developing spare parts logistics, remote diagnostics and software updates to build a comprehensive after-sales support system for European customers.
