Bauska to Create Picnic Area with Edible Landscape for €26,000
Bauska municipality has signed a contract for a picnic area on Tilta Street, cleaning up an overgrown area and creating a sustainable recreation zone with an edible landscape, paths, and a fire pit.

The Bauska municipality has signed a contract with SIA "JM 15" to develop a picnic area on Tilta Street in Bauska. The project will be implemented within the framework of the participatory budget, and the total amount is €26,002.25 excluding VAT. Construction is scheduled to be completed within six months.
The aim of the project is to clean up a long-neglected and overgrown area while preserving its ecological diversity. An edible landscape will be created – existing fruit trees and berry bushes will be maintained and supplemented with new plantings: berry bushes, herbs, and bulb flowers.
Planned works include tree and shrub removal, paving a path, installing a fire pit and an outdoor grill, as well as benches, a table, and waste bins. After completion, necessary measurements will be taken and the facility will be put into operation.
This project is one of those supported by residents in the 2025 vote on Bauska municipality's participatory budget initiatives. The municipality highly appreciates residents' activity and desire to improve the surrounding environment.
