Bauskas alus celebrates 45 years of tradition and quality
Bauskas brewery marks its 45th anniversary, emphasizing loyalty to traditional recipes and quality while introducing new products.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Bauskas alus brewery. The company prides itself on unchanged traditions and quality based on the legacy of legendary brewmaster Kārlis Zālītis. Zālītis, considered a pioneer of modern Latvian brewing, created iconic recipes such as "Senču alus" and the malt drink "Veselība". He worked at the brewery until his death in 2021 at age 95; this year he would have turned 100.
Proven values and innovations
Current plant manager Santa Lukašūna emphasizes the company remains faithful to proven values and popular recipes while also offering novelties. To mark the 45th anniversary, production of the "Klasika" beer in glass bottles has started. Non-alcoholic beer is another new addition. The non-alcoholic range already includes malt drinks "Veselība" and "Porteris" as well as kvass.
Modern production with traditional taste
Although recipes remain unchanged, the brewery has invested in modern technology, installing new filling lines. Products are packaged in glass bottles, PET containers, and metal kegs. The brewery still uses open fermentation in large vats, giving the beer its characteristic depth. Visitors can take brewery tours.
People as a value
"Bauskas alus" boasts a stable workforce, with several employees having decades of experience. The company has repeatedly received the "TOP Employer in Zemgale" award. Lukašūna notes that long-time employees are a valuable resource, as they know production nuances down to historical details.
