Bauskas district youth win 14 medals at Latvian Youth Olympics
Young athletes from Bauskas district earned 3 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze medals at the 10th Latvian Youth Olympics in Valmiera, with top performances in athletics, canoe slalom, and table tennis.

The 10th Latvian Youth Olympics took place in Valmiera from June 18 to 20, with Bauskas district athletes winning a total of 14 medals: three gold, seven silver, and four bronze.
Gold medals were secured in three sports. In pole vault, Jēkabs Belverts from Bauskas Children and Youth Sports School (BJSS) won with a result of 3.95 meters. In canoe slalom, Marta Žižmāre, trained by Baldone coaches, took first place in the C1 class. In table tennis doubles, Elīza Paula Kučinska (Bauskas BJSS) paired with Monta Milzere (Sports School "Dartija") to win gold.
Silver medals went to: Elza Zaļkalne (Vecumnieki Sports School) in pole vault (2.65 m); Anrijs Vasiļjevs (Bauskas BJSS) in freestyle wrestling; Ralfs Kondratjuks (Bauskas BJSS, Rundāle) in high jump (1.93 m); Elīza Tāre in canoe slalom (C1 and K1 classes); and Elīza Paula Kučinska in individual table tennis and mixed doubles.
Bronze medals were awarded to: Gundega Munda (Bauskas BJSS) in javelin throw (44.72 m); Melisa Dubkeviča (Bauskas Combat Sports Club) in boxing; Anete Āboliņa (Iecava Sports School "Dartija") in discus throw (35.7 m); and Monta Milzere in individual table tennis.
Notably, the swimming division of Bauskas BJSS made its Olympic debut with Kārlis Duklavs setting a personal best in the 200-meter backstroke (2:19.99) to claim bronze.
A total of 40 municipal teams competed across 28 sports, vying for 218 medal sets. In the overall medal table, Riga dominated with 140 medals (56 gold), followed by Daugavpils (76) and Jelgava (42). Jūrmala and Ķekavas district rounded out the top five.
The next Latvian Youth Olympics will be hosted by Jūrmala in summer 2028, while the historical Latvian Olympics tradition will resume in Riga in 2029.
