Changeable weather expected in Latvia at start of the week, drier toward the end
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre forecasts cloudy weather with fog and brief rain early in the week, followed by more sunshine and drier conditions in the second half.

Latvia can expect changeable weather at the start of the new week, with more sunshine and drier conditions in the second half, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LVĢMC), the state agency that carries out weather and environmental monitoring and issues forecasts. The outlook matters for anyone planning travel or outdoor work, as both fog and stronger winds are expected.
Monday and Tuesday
On Monday, a cyclone will influence the weather over the Baltic Sea, and on Tuesday it will be replaced by an area of high pressure. The wind will ease slightly, so fog will thicken across large areas early in the week. Skies on Monday and Tuesday will be mostly cloudy, clearing only at times.
Brief rain is expected. In the night to Monday, heavy showers are possible locally, and thunderstorms may occur along the coast. Fog will form in many places at night and in some areas will linger into the morning. Night temperatures will fall to +4…+9 degrees, while daytime highs will be around +8…+13 degrees.
Wednesday
Wednesday will also be mostly cloudy, with fog in places at night and in the morning. As a new cyclone approaches Latvia from the west, the wind will gradually strengthen, becoming a moderate southerly and southwesterly wind that will be gusty on the coast.
Second half of the week
At the end of the working week the rain will stop and the sun will shine more often. No gusty wind is expected until Sunday, when the weather will most likely turn wetter and windier again, the LVĢMC forecast says.
