Belgium's Spott raises €18.3 million to build AI system for recruitment agencies
Leuven-based Spott, which builds an AI-native applicant tracking and CRM platform for recruitment agencies, has raised €18.3 million in a Series A round. The funds will support expansion into the US and APAC markets.

Spott, a Leuven-based company building an AI-native applicant tracking system (ATS) and customer relationship management (CRM) platform for recruitment agencies, has raised €18.3 million ($21 million) in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Balderton Capital, with participation from Base10 Partners, Y Combinator and Fortino. It follows a €2.8 million seed round the company raised in March 2025.
Spott was founded in 2024 by Lander Degreve, Manu Vanderveeren and Samuel Smeys, who previously advised recruitment businesses at consulting firms McKinsey, Bain and BCG. Through that work, they identified an industry open to modernisation but held back by outdated, disconnected software. The company argues that human judgement accounts for only about a fifth of a recruiter's workload, with the remainder consumed by administrative tasks and candidate sourcing — work it says AI can take over, leaving final decisions to people.
The company's core platform launched just six months after its seed round, and revenue has grown more than tenfold since the start of 2026. Spott now counts hundreds of recruitment agencies as customers, including H.W. Anderson and the 200-person CGP Group, which has deployed the platform across 12 countries. Around 20% of current revenue comes from the APAC region and 15% from the US.
The new funding will support Spott's expansion into the US and APAC markets, the development of new enterprise features, and hiring additional engineers to build out agentic AI capabilities. The company plans to open offices in Sydney and New York and grow its headcount from 44 to around 60 by the end of the year.
