Best Buy Bundles $100 Gift Card With Preorders of the Touchscreen MacBook Pro

US electronics retailer Best Buy is offering a $100 gift card to customers who preorder Apple's new MacBook Pro with a touch-enabled PROLED XDR display, according to tech site The Verge on October 31. Several major retailers are taking preorders for the new laptop, but Best Buy is the only one adding this extra incentive.

The gift card is added to the cart automatically when a buyer preorders one of Apple's highest-end laptops, which come in 14- and 16-inch configurations. The deal also covers a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip. Shoppers can confirm the card has been added in the "Complete your purchase" section of the checkout page.

First impressions of the new model

The Verge colleague Antonio G. Di Benedetto tried the new laptop at Apple's event. He was impressed by the brightness and contrast of the Tandem OLED panel, but called the update "kind of boring" because the rest of the system changes relatively little.

There are some changes to macOS meant to make touch use smoother, such as magnifying the colored buttons on windows when a finger moves close to them. The PROLED laptops are also slightly thinner and lighter than standard models, and the Apple logo on the back glows, as on older versions.

The source also lists a price of $2,899 but does not specify which configuration it applies to.
