Former Prime Minister's Office Head Gerrit Mäesalu to Lead Enefit
Gerrit Mäesalu, formerly head of the Prime Minister's office, has been appointed as the new chairman of Enefit and a member of the Eesti Energia board. He will assume the position on June 19.

Eesti Energia's board has appointed Gerrit Mäesalu as the new chairman of Enefit and a member of the Eesti Energia board, following a proposal from CEO Andrus Durejko. Mäesalu previously headed the office of Prime Minister Kristen Michal.
Mäesalu has been with Eesti Energia since March 2025, serving as head of corporate relations and sitting on the group's extended board. Durejko noted that over the past year and a half, Mäesalu has played a key role in the group's development and management, and is well acquainted with the company's operations, energy sector challenges, and state expectations.
Mäesalu will start his new role on June 19, with a term ending on April 1, 2027. The short term was a decision by the board, according to Eesti Energia's press service. Current Enefit chairman Juhan Aguraiuja had previously announced he would leave the company voluntarily on June 19.
