Latvian motocross riders and brothers Kārlis and Jānis Reišulis have officially announced that their partnership with Japanese motorcycle maker Yamaha has come to an end. The news had circulated earlier, but it has now been confirmed by the riders themselves. The reason is the manufacturer's decision not to continue in the MX2 class of the motocross World Championship and to concentrate on the MXGP class instead.

Jānis: four years with the brand

Jānis Reišulis spent four years with Yamaha. During that time he raced for three different teams and won two European championship titles. Last season he made his debut in the MX2 World Championship, which the source describes as an impressive first year.

In his farewell message, Jānis said that parting ways is not easy, but that the time has come. He said he would always remember the moments shared and thanked everyone who had been part of his journey.

Kārlis: five years together

The elder brother, Kārlis Reišulis, confirmed his departure from Yamaha after five years of cooperation. He said he had developed as a rider during this period and gained valuable experience in international motocross. Kārlis thanked the manufacturer for its constant support throughout his career and for seeing potential in him.

What comes next

The brothers' plans for the 2027 season have not yet been officially announced. Unofficial information suggests that both riders could join the KTM team.
