Rider dies following crash during Manx Grand Prix qualifying
A competitor died after a crash involving two riders during Tuesday evening's Manx Grand Prix qualifying session on the Isle of Man. The other rider suffered minor injuries.

A rider has died following a crash during qualifying for the Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man. The incident happened on Tuesday evening at around 18:50 BST, on the opening lap of the session, at Cruickshanks in Ramsey.
The session was immediately red-flagged following the crash, and the road between Ramsey Bus Station and Lheaney Road remained closed for more than three hours afterwards.
The second rider involved sustained minor injuries and is being treated at Noble's, the island's main hospital. Neither rider has been publicly named.
Event organisers said in a statement that they were deeply saddened to confirm one competitor had died from their injuries. A multi-agency investigation has now begun, in line with the event's standard procedures. Organisers asked for the privacy of those involved, their families and friends to be respected.
Tuesday was the second day of qualifying for the 2026 Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT, after Monday's sessions were cancelled due to rain. Sunday's opening qualifying session had already been cut short following a separate incident in which Italian rider Salvatore Sallustro was taken to hospital, along with worsening weather conditions.
Qualifying for the Manx Grand Prix, held alongside the Classic TT on the 37.7-mile (61km) Mountain Course, is due to continue daily until Saturday. Racing in both events is scheduled to run until 28 August.
