Champions League anthem returns with three drawn matches
The Champions League anthem and stadium branding, unveiled this summer, accompanied three matches — and none of them produced a winner.

UEFA Champions League, one of the world's most prestigious club football competitions, made its seasonal comeback this summer with its familiar sound and visual identity — the well-known anthem and stadium decoration instantly associated with Europe's top club competition. This atmosphere was used for the first time this season in three matches, but all three turned out to be unusual in one respect: none of them produced a winner.
In all three fixtures, the competing teams were unable to beat one another within the match, and each game ended in a draw. That means none of the clubs involved in these three matches secured the full points tally normally awarded for a win.
Tight competition from the start
The fact that three of the first matches to feature the Champions League anthem all ended level points to an even balance of strength between the teams already at this early stage of the tournament. A draw is often regarded as a fair outcome when both sides perform at a similar level during the match, but for clubs fighting to advance further in the competition, every point dropped can prove significant later in the season.
Over the years, the Champions League anthem and its accompanying stadium presentation have become one of the most recognisable traditions in world football. Its return each summer is anticipated by fans and players alike, as the distinctive atmosphere it creates sets these matches apart from ordinary league fixtures.
