The State Police in Latvia are searching for a missing 81-year-old woman, Alla Novožīlova, who was born in 1945. On 4 November she left her home in Brocēni, a town in Saldus municipality, and she has not come back. Police are asking the public to help establish where she is.

What is known about the disappearance

According to police, Alla left her home on Skolas Street at about 2 p.m. It is not known where exactly she went, but she may have gone for a walk in the Brocēni forest in Saldus municipality. She has now been away from home for a second day, so the search continues.

What she looked like

When she left the house, Alla was wearing a dark-coloured coat and a grey hat. On her feet she had black sports shoes with the word "Bail" on them. These details may help people recognise her if they see her in the forest or elsewhere around Brocēni.

Appeal from police

The State Police urge people to look at the published photograph of the woman and to come forward if they know where she might be. Information can be passed on by calling the single emergency number, 112.
