Josh Charnley etched his name into rugby league history on Sunday, scoring three tries to become the all-time leading try-scorer in Super League. The 34-year-old winger now has 272 tries, one ahead of Leeds Rhinos' Ryan Hall.

Charnley's spectacular performance helped Leigh Leopards secure a comprehensive 38-12 win over Bradford Bulls at Odsal. He grabbed a hat-trick, while Innes Senior, Bailey Hodgson, and Louis Brogan also crossed the line. The victory was Leigh's sixth in their last seven matches, keeping them in seventh place, just two points behind St Helens, who occupy the final playoff spot.

Bradford, meanwhile, could only manage tries from Chris Atkin and Caleb Aekins, leaving them in 10th place at the halfway point of the season.

Charnley's record-breaking moment came early, as he collected an inch-perfect kick from Adam Cook to score his first try. He then side-stepped past two defenders for his second, before completing his hat-trick with a third try set up by Cook. That try took him to 272, surpassing Hall's mark.

The only downside was Charnley limping off with 15 minutes remaining, but Leigh will hope the evergreen winger can continue adding to his record tally.

Notably, the corresponding fixture next season will be played in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium on 27 February, marking the first time teams from either side of the Pennines will meet in the United States.
