Caune and Svencis to End World Cup Season in Italy
Latvian crew Krisjanis Caune and Edgars Svencis of the X3000 Skandi Motors Racing team will contest the final round of the 2026 FIA Eco Rally Cup in Italy on 16–18 October. It will be their ninth start of the season.

The ECOdolomitesGT eco rally takes place in north-eastern Italy from 16 to 18 October. It is the last round of the 2026 FIA Eco Rally Cup, the world cup for electric-car regularity rallies run under the international motorsport federation. Latvian driver Krisjanis Caune and co-driver Edgars Svencis of the X3000 Skandi Motors Racing team will start there. It is their ninth round this season, and they aim to stay among the ten most accurate crews in the overall standings.
Season and results
This year's rounds have been held in Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, the United Kingdom and China. The eight best results count towards the overall classification. Caune and Svencis' best result so far is a win in the regularity classification in Latvia. They also finished in the top ten in Scotland, in the United Kingdom.
The route in Italy
Over three days in the Alps, crews must cover more than 532 kilometres, of which 316 kilometres are divided into 26 regularity stages:
- Friday, 16 October: 7 stages, 156 km;
- Saturday, 17 October: the longest day, 12 stages, 253 km;
- Sunday, 18 October: 7 stages, 122 km.
The final result combines the penalty points from the regularity stages with the electric car's energy consumption coefficient.
The crew's view
Caune admits the season has not been easy, especially its second half, when events followed one another in quick succession. He wants to finish on a positive note and keep a place in the top ten. The crew has not competed in Italy before but has heard from other competitors that it will be challenging. Svencis says that accurately completing the route and making correct navigation decisions will be important, and his job is to track the details so the driver can concentrate on driving.
In a regularity rally, participants drive on roads open to general traffic, must keep a set average speed and use as little energy as possible.
