The Linnamäe Konsum store in the Lasnamäe district of Tallinn, Estonia's capital, will cease operations on 17 January 2027. The decision to close the outlet was made by Coop Järva, part of the Coop retail network. Its management board chair, Tiiu Lunts, said the store is unprofitable.

Speaking to Rus.ERR on Tuesday, Lunts said the shop shares a building with a medical centre, which makes it extremely difficult for customers to find parking. In her words, visitors often have to search for a free space for a long time, and this has reduced the number of people coming to the store. Expansion work will soon begin in the building, but the number of parking spaces will not increase.

Impact on staff

The closure will affect all 30 employees, who face redundancy. Management has promised to support the team: the company will help anyone who wishes to find a job at other stores in the Coop chain.

Other stores

Lunts added that Coop has not made any decisions to close other stores at this time.
