The supervisory board of the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) has submitted a letter to Transport Minister Rihards Kozlovskis (New Unity) announcing its resignation from office.
Minister Kozlovskis confirmed the news to journalists on Wednesday. He also revealed that, in response to the board's letter, he has called on all members of the CSDD management board to step down from their positions as well.
The specific reasons behind the supervisory board's decision to resign have not yet been disclosed, and it remains unclear how the situation with the potential departure of management board members will unfold.
CSDD is a state-owned company responsible for vehicle registration, driver testing and road traffic safety matters in Latvia, and a change in its leadership could affect the agency's future operations.
