Dailes Theatre Staff Choose 'Pirmavots' as Best Production of the Season
In a survey of nearly 200 employees, Dailes Theatre has named Viesturs Kairišs' production 'Pirmavots' as the best of the 2025/2026 season, with Madara Viļčuka and Mārtiņš Meiers awarded best actress and actor respectively.
As the season draws to a close, the Dailes Theatre conducted an internal poll among nearly 200 staff members to identify the season's most outstanding performances and individuals.
The production 'Pirmavots', directed by Viesturs Kairišs, was voted the best of the 2025/2026 season. It was followed in the top three by 'Orākuls' and 'Nāve un meitene'.
Madara Viļčuka was named Actress of the Year, with Jana Herbsta and Ilze Ķuzule-Skrastiņa also in the top three. The Actor of the Year award went to Mārtiņš Meiers, competing against Toms Veličko and Kaspars Dumburs.
A special recognition, 'Gada dailēnietis', was awarded to Kārlis Arnolds Avots.
The season's final show, 'Rīkojums Nr. 2', was not included in the main vote, but its creative team received a special award: an honorary certificate signed by the 7th President of Latvia, Valdis Zatlers, along with a humorous pennant.
Additionally, the theatre staff honored the best seasonal workers with special management awards.
