A woman's heart suddenly stopped while she was shopping in a store in Daugavpils, but thanks to the swift response of those around her, her life was saved. Bystanders not only immediately called the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) but also began chest compressions and continued until paramedics arrived.

The EMS team continued resuscitation efforts upon arrival. The patient was then taken to the Emergency Medicine Clinic of Daugavpils Regional Hospital, where emergency diagnostics and treatment were provided. Specialists from the hospital's Cardiac and Great Vessel Catheterization Laboratory also became involved to address the underlying cause of the life-threatening condition.

The hospital emphasized that this case demonstrates the critical importance of timely and coordinated action at every link in the chain – from bystanders' readiness to provide first aid to the professional teamwork of medical staff. Particular note was made of the successful and purposefully developed cooperation with the EMS. The hospital explained that in such situations, not only the professionalism of each specialist is decisive, but also precise information exchange, mutual trust, and the ability of all involved services to work as a unified team.
