BFC Daugavpils beat FS Jelgava 1–0 in round 34 of the Virsliga, Latvia's top football league, on Sunday, 25 October. The three points lifted the Daugavpils side to fourth place in the standings, a position that could give them a place in European club competitions next summer if they hold it at the end of the season.

Goalless first half

Neither team scored before the break (0–0). Jelgava had six shots and Daugavpils four. Daugavpils had a good chance in the 21st minute, when Jelgava goalkeeper Adams Dvoržāks saved a shot from Daniels Kivinda, and a follow-up effort from Papā Ginjē went past the post and behind the goal. Later, Czech forward Miloš Pudil had the home side's best chance, running one-on-one with goalkeeper Jānis Beks, but his shot went wide.

Decisive strike in the 78th minute

The second half stayed evenly balanced. Jakubu and Filips Hašeks both had opportunities, but the score did not change. The breakthrough came from the visitors: Kader Traoré, scoring his seventh goal of the season, got past defender Kristers Alekseičiks and sent a long-range shot into the net while Dvoržāks was not ready. The score remained 1–0 until the end.

Jelgava had a slight edge in possession (55.2% to 44.8%), total shots (12 to 11) and shots on target (7 to 6). Daugavpils players Uleds, Mihaļcovs and Mukvelle received yellow-card warnings. The referee was Aleksandrs Golubevs.

League table

After 34 rounds, Daugavpils have 48 points and sit fourth. Liepāja are fifth with 47 points, while Jelgava are seventh with 32. RFS lead with 83 points, followed by Riga FC with 79, and Auda are third with 67.
