Lawyer Asks Supreme Court for Early Release of Dikaev
The lawyer of Haron Dikaev, sentenced to 12 years for leading a criminal group, has filed a cassation appeal with the State Court, seeking to overturn the appeal court's refusal of early release.

Haron Dikaev, who is serving a 12-year prison sentence for leading a criminal organization, had his lawyer file a cassation appeal with the State Court last week. The appeal requests the annulment of the circuit court's decision that denied his client early release on parole.
The State Court has not yet taken a position on the submitted appeal. The Tartu Circuit Court previously upheld the decision of the Viru County Court, made on May 18, that Dikaev should continue serving his sentence.
Last year, the Estonian judicial system also denied Dikaev early release.
Dikaev is serving a 12-year sentence for leading a criminal group with a clear hierarchy and strict discipline. The verdict became final in January 2021. Most of the sentence has already been served, as Dikaev was taken into custody in the summer of 2015.
According to the police, Dikaev's criminal organization was involved in a wide range of illegal activities, from drug trafficking to large-scale tax fraud.
