Dieter Bohlen's Performance in Estonia: Organizers Won't Cancel, Await Condemnation of War
Former Modern Talking member Dieter Bohlen is scheduled to perform at the Retrobest festival in Estonia on Friday, despite his repeated pro-Russia statements. The organizers condemn the war but will not cancel his performance, expecting a video from the artist denouncing the war in Ukraine.

This Friday, Dieter Bohlen, the former member of Modern Talking, is set to perform at the Retrobest event in Estonia. Bohlen has publicly expressed support for Russia for the second time, sparking discussion about his participation.
Tanel Samms, a representative of the festival organizer Monster Music, confirmed to the newspaper Kroonika that they condemn the support of war but do not plan to cancel Bohlen's performance. Instead, they are waiting for a video from the singer in which he announces that he condemns the war in Ukraine.
Earlier this year, in March, Lithuania canceled two of Bohlen's concerts planned for autumn. The organizers did not officially disclose the reason, but LRT reported that it might be linked to an interview Bohlen gave in November last year. In that interview, he said that Russia and Germany were essentially a dream team because they had cheap energy, and from an economic perspective, it was a give-and-take similar to Modern Talking, but they gave it up for moral reasons.
In March, a discussion arose whether the Retrobest organizers should follow the decision of their Lithuanian colleagues. Monster Music head Tanel Samms confirmed at that time that the singer's performance was still on.
