Documentary reveals allegations of systematic torture in Israeli prisons
Al Jazeera’s documentary “Into the Darkness” investigates allegations of systematic torture against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons and military detention facilities.

The Al Jazeera program “Fault Lines” has released a new documentary titled “Into the Darkness,” which focuses on allegations of systematic torture of Palestinians within Israel’s prison system and military detention centers.
The documentary features firsthand testimony from former detainees who recount beatings, starvation, sexual violence, denial of medical care, and psychological abuse. Among the stories are those of Mohammad Ibrahim, a Palestinian American arrested at age 15 for throwing stones, and a former detainee from Gaza whose harrowing account details extreme sexual violence.
Filmed in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Tel Aviv, Florida, and London, the film examines allegations that these practices are carried out under the authority of the Israeli military and officials, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Rights groups and former prisoners say the system operates with impunity.
