Drones set Russia’s Syzran refinery ablaze 800 km from war zone — analysts count every primary unit hit
Overnight on July 12, drones struck the Syzran oil refinery in Russia, burning two crude distillation units and a gasoline reformer.

A massive fire broke out at the Syzran oil refinery in Russia after a drone attack. The attack destroyed both crude distillation installations and a gasoline reformer. The refinery, located about 800 kilometers from the war zone in Ukraine, has a capacity of up to 8.9 million tons of oil per year.
According to analysts, the drones hit every primary production unit type, causing significant damage to the plant's operations. This incident highlights Ukraine’s growing ability to strike deep into Russian territory, threatening energy infrastructure.
The Syzran refinery is one of Russia's key oil processing facilities, supplying fuel to the region. Following the attack, the plant’s operations are likely to be suspended for an extended period, potentially affecting local fuel markets.
