Drone Strike on Syzran Oil Refinery in Russia Causes Massive Fire
On July 12, drones attacked the Syzran oil refinery in Russia's Samara region, triggering a large fire. No official casualty report yet.

In the early hours of July 12, the city of Syzran in Russia's Samara region was rocked by a series of explosions. According to social media and independent news reports, the target was the Syzran oil refinery, part of the Rosneft company.
Local residents heard several powerful blasts around 5 a.m., followed by thick black smoke rising over the refinery complex. Monitoring channels released footage showing a massive blaze and a column of smoke. Russian authorities have not officially commented on casualties or the extent of the damage.
The Syzran refinery is a key fuel supplier for the Russian military, providing gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, and aviation kerosene for its forces fighting in Ukraine. With a nominal capacity of up to 8.9 million tons of oil per year, it is located more than 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Previously, on May 21, Ukrainian defense force drones severely damaged the refinery's primary crude distillation unit, which accounted for over 70% of its total capacity, temporarily halting operations.
