Novak Djokovic, ranked eighth in the world, battled for five hours and 15 minutes to defeat world number four Felix Auger-Aliassime in the longest quarterfinal in Wimbledon history. The final score was 7:6 (12:10), 3:6, 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 7:6 (10:4), surpassing the previous record of 5:12.

The 39-year-old Serbian entered the match as the favorite with betting odds of 1.60. In the first set tiebreak, Djokovic saved three set points and won 12-10, but lost the fourth set tiebreak 4-7. In the decisive fifth-set tiebreak, he won the last nine points due to opponent errors, closing it out 10-4.

Although Djokovic won fewer points on first serve (73% vs 79%), he was superior on second serve (64% vs 43%) and won more total points (189 vs 185). Auger-Aliassime hit more winners (74 vs 43) but also more unforced errors (61 vs 47). Break points: Djokovic converted 2 of 13, his opponent 2 of 4.

This was Djokovic's 55th Grand Slam semifinal appearance. He is competing at Wimbledon for the 21st time and has won seven titles here. Auger-Aliassime, playing in his seventh Wimbledon, matched his best result with a quarterfinal run, also achieved in 2021. In the semifinals, Djokovic will face Italian world number one Jannik Sinner.
