According to data from the National Health Service, as of July 1, 48,721 residents had made a decision regarding organ donation for transplantation in the e-health system. Of these, 60% expressed consent. Similarly, 47,026 people made a choice about tissue donation, with 60% agreeing. For body donation for educational or scientific purposes, 30,635 individuals made a decision, of whom approximately one third gave consent.
Overall, only 2.85% of Latvia's population have used this option so far. Women are more active, accounting for 68% of all entries. The most active age group is 30 to 49 years.
Juris Gaiķis, board member of the Latvian Digital Health Center, commented that the increase in public engagement reflects growing trust in digital health solutions and greater awareness of the importance of organ donation. He emphasized that such choices allow individuals to express their own will, sparing their relatives from making difficult decisions.
