Experts Warn of Geopolitically ‘Hot Summer’ Due to US Policy Whims

Despite headlines suggesting a resolution in the US-Iran conflict and successful Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure, foreign policy experts predict continued global instability. The main driver is the unpredictable strategy of the US administration.

Foreign policy experts caution that even though news reports indicate progress in US-Iran relations and Ukraine’s successful strikes on Russia’s oil infrastructure, the geopolitical landscape is expected to remain turbulent this summer. According to Elīna Vrobļevska, a lecturer at Rīga Stradiņš University and deputy director of the Centre for Eastern European Policy Studies, much of the uncertainty stems from the momentary strategies and whims of the White House under President Donald Trump.

The experts argue that current geopolitical trends do not signal stabilization, and a calmer period in world events should not be expected. The discussion took place on the “Delfi TV” program “Kāpēc”.
