Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami as UK seeks extradition
Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday after British authorities requested their extradition on charges of rape and sex trafficking. The brothers deny the allegations.

Arrest and Extradition Proceedings
Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were taken into custody in Miami on Saturday following a UK extradition request for rape and human trafficking. The U.S. Marshals Service executed the arrest under a sealed warrant, according to spokesperson Brady McCarron. The brothers are expected to appear in federal court in Miami early next week.
Charges and Legal Background
British prosecutors announced they are seeking the brothers' extradition for allegedly raping and trafficking women between 2010 and 2017. In addition to charges announced in 2025 involving three women, 38 new charges have been filed concerning four additional victims. Both brothers face charges of rape and human trafficking. Andrew Tate is also charged with exploiting prostitution and 19 counts related to indecent images of children and extreme pornography.
The brothers, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, moved to Romania in 2016. They were arrested there in 2022 on similar allegations, but the case stalled due to legal issues. Last year, they were allowed to leave Romania and flew to Florida. They deny all allegations.
Lawyer's Response
Joseph McBride, the brothers' lawyer, called the UK charges "filth and slander," claiming they are intended to derail defamation lawsuits the brothers have filed in the U.S. He expressed confidence that the brothers would be freed after a review of the facts.
Public Reaction
Andrew Tate, 39, gained fame as a contestant on the reality show "Big Brother" in 2016 but was removed after a video allegedly showed him assaulting a woman. He has over 10 million followers on X but has been banned from platforms for hate speech. Bedfordshire Police's deputy chief constable stated that there is no place for male violence against women and girls.
