Eufy Wall Light Cam S4 Security Camera Gets $80 Discount
Eufy's Wall Light Cam S4, an outdoor security camera that doubles as a wall light, is on sale at $80 off. Two other Eufy cameras are also discounted.
Simon Hill, a reviewer at the technology site Wired who has tested a large number of security cameras, is recommending a discount on the Eufy Wall Light Cam S4, an outdoor camera built into a wall light. It now costs $170 in the US instead of the original $250. Eufy is a maker of security cameras and smart home devices.
How it works
The Wall Light Cam S4 works as a motion-activated wall light that can illuminate a driveway, porch or back gate. It includes a 4K camera that can be swiveled to the desired angle. Footage is stored on the device, which has 32 GB of built-in storage, and no subscription is required. That also covers the AI detection that tells people, vehicles and pets apart.
The camera connects directly to a Wi-Fi network, so the installation spot needs a decent signal. A solar panel keeps the battery charged; it can be detached and placed where it gets better sunlight. The reviewer says his unit has stayed charged for the past couple of months, though he expects that may change in winter.
Brightness and color temperature can be adjusted. The light can be scheduled for specific hours or set to run from sunset to sunrise based on location. It also does not look like a typical outdoor security camera.
Drawbacks
The frame rate is only 15 fps, so fast-moving subjects can look blurry, especially in the dark. Some users will need to recharge the battery occasionally, so the camera should be placed within reach. The reviewer considers the original $250 price too high, but says that at $170 it matters less.
Other deals
The indoor Eufy S350, a dual-lens camera with automatic tracking, is now $100, which is $40 off. The reviewer predicts the price could fall another $20 around Black Friday.
The EufyCam C35 two-camera kit costs $130, a $70 discount. The cameras work indoors or outdoors, and the kit includes a HomeBase Mini hub for local recording, plus onboard AI with facial recognition.
