Evelīna Sirsniņa Scores 12 Points in Latvian U17 Basketball Team's Loss to Slovenia
Latvia's U17 women's basketball team lost a friendly match against Slovenia, the European vice-champions. Evelīna Sirsniņa led the team with 12 points.

On Saturday, June 20, the Latvian U17 women's basketball team suffered a 70:54 defeat in a friendly game against Slovenia, which holds the title of European vice-champion. The Latvian squad was missing starters Šarlote Skrebele and Adele Priedīte, while Laura Ķikuste made her first appearance. Elīza Omula was included in the roster but did not see playing time.
The home team effectively neutralized Latvia's offense, particularly in the paint. Throughout the game, only Evelīna Sirsniņa managed to score consistently near the basket, finishing with 12 points. Among other players, Laura Ķikuste was the only one to score more than once, contributing 6 points. The World Cup will feature six European teams: Latvia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Germany, and host Czech Republic. The Americas will be represented by USA, Canada, Colombia, and Mexico; Africa by Egypt and Ivory Coast; and Asia by Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and China. Latvia has been drawn into Group A alongside the USA, Australia, and Ivory Coast. Their first game will be against Australia, followed by Ivory Coast and then the USA.
