Nigel Farage, the leader of the Reform party, is again at the center of financial controversies. The Guardian previously revealed that Farage received £5 million from British-Thai crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne. Now, the Sunday Times has reported additional freebies from George Cottrell, who was convicted in the US of money laundering, wire fraud, extortion, and blackmail. Cottrell, who now runs an online gambling company, allegedly provided Farage with a London townhouse near Buckingham Palace, social media management, and security. Cottrell had previously been a fundraiser for the Brexit party.

Conservative MP Robert Jenrick came to Farage's defense on Laura Kuenssberg's show. Jenrick, as a former housing minister, had overruled a local council to benefit Conservative donor Richard Desmond. In the interview, Jenrick claimed there was "nothing to see here" and called it an old, reheated story. He argued that Farage did not need to declare the gifts because he never planned to become an MP, despite Farage being a professional politician for 25 years and honorary president of Reform. Jenrick also alleged that the Sunday Times is a Labour-supporting paper, though Kuenssberg noted it only backed Labour in the last election.

Farage previously earned over £1 million from appearing on "I'm a Celebrity" and received £270,000 for 12 hours of promotional work for a gold bullion company. Jenrick praised Farage's work ethic and claimed he has been consistent—a statement that aligns with Farage's long history of opaque finances.
