Florida man arrested for allegedly stealing over $200,000 in crypto using Steam game malware
Federal authorities have arrested a Florida man for allegedly stealing at least $220,000 in cryptocurrency through malware-infected Steam games.

Federal authorities have arrested 21-year-old Zyaire Wilkins of Florida, who is accused of stealing at least $220,000 in cryptocurrency by distributing malware-laden games on the Steam platform. According to the complaint, Wilkins and his co-conspirators released eight games embedded with malicious code between May 2024 and February 2026, infecting approximately 8,000 devices and gaining access to 80 crypto wallets.
Although the complaint does not explicitly state that the games were uploaded to Steam, local outlet Local10 reported that the FBI has issued a call for victim information in a "Steam malware investigation" that includes the games listed in the lawsuit: BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse/DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova. Last year, several outlets reported that Steam removed some of these crypto-stealing games, such as Blockblasters, which stole over $150,000 from victims, including a streamer raising funds for cancer treatment.
The complaint alleges that Wilkins and his co-conspirators marketed the infected games on social media and messaging platforms such as Discord, Telegram, X/Twitter, and LinkedIn, encouraging others to download them. They then used the malware to steal victims' private information and drain their crypto wallets. Federal agents linked Wilkins to the case after obtaining his crypto wallet address from messages with an alleged co-conspirator. They traced the address to a Bitrefill account, where Wilkins had purchased over 150 gift cards, including for Uber Eats, which helped authorities uncover his phone number and eventually his address.
Wilkins was arrested on July 14th and charged with conspiracy to obtain information by computer for private financial gain. Valve, the owner of Steam, has not commented.
