Frīdis makes no secret of his dislike for Juris Kaukulis's starter

On the 360TV show “Gandrīz ideālas vakariņas” (“Almost Ideal Dinner”), musician Juris Kaukulis hosted his guests in Mālpils, the place where he spent his childhood. The episode was reported on 5 November. One of the guests, Frīdis, did not care for the first dish prepared by the host and made no secret of it.

Preparing for the evening

Kaukulis had prepared carefully for the evening and had even brought in helpers to set the table. Even so, the guests noticed the disorder in the kitchen.

The starter drew mixed reactions

The first dish served was a starter: soup boats filled with various ingredients and grilled zucchini. Not everyone enjoyed it. Influencer Egita Lauva said the taste was spoiled by mint, and in her view the zucchini was burnt.

Frīdis was the most critical. “I have never eaten anything like this, and I doubt I will ever want to again,” he said of the starter Juris had prepared. He added that cooked vegetables have never appealed to him.

The episode is of limited news value, but it shows that guests on the programme can be quite direct in their verdicts on the host's cooking. In the show, guests judge the dinner evenings prepared for them, and this time opinions on the first course split right from the start.
