Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a minor in Moscow on suspicion of preparing a terror attack at the Tsaritsyno museum-reserve. The arrest followed warnings of a terror threat at the site that the US and German embassies in the Russian capital had published, and the museum-reserve itself was closed on Saturday evening.
What the FSB says
According to the agency, the teenager had posted photos on the social network TikTok showing himself in tactical clothing, a balaclava, a cap and glasses, holding an object resembling an automatic weapon. He had also published pictures taken at the Tsaritsyno museum-reserve, captioned "I found a place".
The FSB states that a subscription to a neo-Nazi channel was found on the teenager's phone, along with search queries about terror attacks that have already taken place. The agency thanked its American counterparts for providing information in good time.
Warnings and closure
On Saturday, the US embassy in Moscow posted a warning on its website about a terror threat at the Tsaritsyno museum-reserve. The German embassy later issued a similar warning. On Saturday evening the museum-reserve was closed and visitors were told to leave.
The report does not give the detained teenager's name or age, nor does it say what further legal steps are planned. The facts about the suspect described above come from the FSB's statement.
