Pianist Georgijs Osokins to perform at Small Mežotne Palace
Tonight at 7 p.m., pianist Georgijs Osokins will give a solo concert at Small Mežotne Palace, featuring works by Vasks, Schubert, Schumann, and Liszt. The artist first performed at the venue ten years ago, in summer 2016.
Tonight at 7 p.m., the pianist and Great Music Award laureate Georgijs Osokins will give a solo concert at Small Mežotne Palace, according to the concert organizers.
The program includes “Music for a Summer Evening” by composer Pēteris Vasks, who marks an anniversary this year, Franz Schubert’s Sonata in A minor, D. 784, Robert Schumann’s “Forest Scenes,” Op. 82, and Franz Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody.”
Osokins says Small Mežotne Palace has always been a special place for him and notes that this summer marks ten years of warm cooperation with the venue. His first solo concert there took place in summer 2016.
The pianist graduated from the Emīls Dārziņš Music Secondary School and studied piano with his father Sergejs Osokins, a professor at the Latvian Academy of Music. He further refined his skills at the Juilliard School in New York, where he became a student in 2015. He has also regularly taken part in masterclasses with leading pianists and teachers. In 2015, he received the Great Music Award and was awarded a diploma at the Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
Osokins performs with prominent orchestras worldwide, including Tokyo New City, Amadeus, and the Kremerata Baltica chamber orchestra, and appears with violinist Gidon Kremer. The organizers emphasize that he plays in prestigious concert halls.
